Teaching for mastery, whilst retaining many elements of our traditional approach to teaching mathematics, will represent a significant change for many schools. Knowing where to start can be particularly daunting. Hopefully the following will help you on your journey:
- Open mornings – held throughout the year at various locations across the county. At these events you will have the opportunity to visit a school that is well on the way with mastery. Although the structure of the morning will vary from school to school, at all sessions you will have the opportunity to hear the story of the school’s mastery journey, watch a selection of lessons in action and have a chance to ask questions of the leadership team.
- Introduction to mastery – a half day course that we will be delivering early in the autumn term, that takes a broad overview of the mastery approach and lesson design in particular. We may have the capacity to deliver this session as an inset or twilight to a school or cluster of schools. Please contact us for more information’ and link the contact us to email firstname.lastname@example.org
- Essence of teaching for mastery – mastery succinctly summed up on one side of A4 from our friends at NCETM. Check out their Mastery Microsite for more information.
